Every assistance dog starts somewhere, usually with a toy nearby, muddy paws, lots of learning and a Puppy Parent helping them discover the world.
At Hounds for Heroes, Puppy Parents play a vital role in raising the next generation of assistance dogs for physically disabled serving and former members of the Armed Forces and Emergency Services.
From everyday routines and socialisation to confidence-building and early training, Puppy Parents help lay the foundations for a puppy’s future role supporting a Hero to live with greater independence and confidence.
You don’t need previous experience to become a Puppy Parent. Our experienced team provides full training, ongoing 1-2-1 support, puppy classes, and covers food, equipment, insurance and veterinary costs — allowing you to focus on helping your puppy grow and learn.
We are currently looking for Puppy Parents within travelling distance of our Petersfield training centre for regular classes, training and support sessions.
Becoming a Puppy Parent is a genuinely rewarding experience and an opportunity to make a lasting difference, not only to a puppy’s journey, but to the life of a future Hero too.
