Provide short-term care for a Hounds for Heroes puppy or dog and help them continue their training while their regular Puppy Parent or Full-Time Fosterer is unavailable.
Part-Time Fosterers may provide anything from occasional weekend or holiday cover to short periods of care, giving our dogs another positive home environment while supporting our volunteer team.
What Does the Role Involve?
As a Part-Time Fosterer, you will:
- Provide a safe and suitable home for a puppy or dog
- Follow their existing training plan and routines
- Continue socialisation, exercise and everyday training
- Provide short-term cover when needed
- Keep in contact with our dog training team
- Attend veterinary appointments if required
You won’t normally need to attend regular training classes.
What We Provide

- All food and essential equipment
- Veterinary care and insurance
- Training and guidance
- Ongoing support from our dog training team
- Reasonable travel expenses where applicable
What We’re Looking For
You’ll need to:
- Live within approximately 25 miles of our HQ in Petersfield
- Be available to provide occasional short-term care
- Have enough time to care for a puppy or dog and avoid leaving them alone for long periods
- Have access to a car
- Have a fully fenced and secure garden
- Follow our training guidance and positive training methods
