Become a Puppy Parent
Help raise a dog that will change someone’s life.
As a Puppy Parent volunteer, you’ll welcome a young puppy into your home and guide them through the early stages of their training, helping them become a life-changing assistance dog for a physically disabled member of the Armed Forces or Emergency Services.
No previous dog training experience needed, we’ll support you every step of the way.
The role
- Provide a safe, loving home from 8 weeks old
- Care for the puppy for approximately 12–14 months (some may move on earlier)
- Attend weekly puppy classes and 1:1 training sessions
- Follow our puppy socialisation and training plan
- Use positive training methods consistently
- Introduce the puppy to everyday environments and experiences
- Keep health records up to date and attend vet appointments
- Maintain regular, open communication with our training team
- Keep a photo record of the puppy’s journey to share with their future Partner
