Hi! I’m Astra, a lovable Labrador with a big future as an Assistance Dog. I’m cuddly, sometimes a bit deaf (oops), but mostly just very good-looking, at least, that’s what everyone says! So, what’s a typical day like for me? Let me walk you through it:

Early morning: I’m up bright and early, at the bottom of the stairs for breakfast. Sometimes I get told “Back to bed, it’s only 5:30am!” but mostly I get a cuddle, a quick garden trip and then back inside to keep an eye on my food bowl. I’m a fast eater, though my fosterers slow me down with a special slow feeder bowl to make sure I don’t eat too fast.

Training time! I get dressed in my jacket, ready to learn new skills with my personal trainer (aka my amazing fosterer). From picking things up to opening doors and even bus rides, every day is busy and exhausting, but it makes my fosterer happy, I get treats and learn new things!

Dinner’s a bit of a game too. I have to remind my fosterers sometimes by hovering and if I hear The Chase theme tune, I know it’s almost time for my meal!

TV time is for my favourite shows like Dogs Behaving Badly (so funny!) and Crufts. I even tried to join in, but couldn’t get inside the screen!

Bedtime means one last biscuit, settling into my bunk and lights out. It’s a dog’s life and I love every bit of it.

Behind every future assistance dog like me is a caring fosterer who helps us learn and grow. Without their patience, love and commitment, dogs like me couldn’t reach our full potential.
