Congratulations to David, who raised more than £1,000 for Hounds for Heroes after completing the 2023 TCS London Marathon in an incredible 4 hours and 39 minutes.
Every mile David ran will help us continue training, partnering and supporting life-changing assistance dogs for physically disabled serving and former members of HM Armed Forces and UK Emergency Services.
We caught up with David to hear more about his fundraising journey, what inspired him to support Hounds for Heroes and what's next on his running calendar.

Meet David
David was born and brought up on the west coast of Scotland before joining the Army at 17. After leaving military service, he built a successful career in engineering and later became an engineering consultant.
Alongside his career, sport has always played an important role in David's life. From rugby and squash to running, cycling and triathlons, he enjoys taking on new challenges and pushing himself to achieve new goals.
Although relatively new to marathon running, David has quickly embraced endurance events and continues to take part in races across the UK while raising money for charities close to his heart.
Why Hounds for Heroes?
David chose to support Hounds for Heroes because of his military background and the charity's commitment to supporting physically disabled serving and former members of HM Armed Forces and UK Emergency Services.
He wanted to give something back to a cause with a strong connection to his own experiences while helping create life-changing assistance dog partnerships.
David said:
"Having gained a ballot place in the 2023 London Marathon, I felt that the right thing to do would be to find a charity that fitted our way of thinking. We wanted a small charity that had not received large amounts from the London Marathon and one that had a cause close to our hearts. Having served in the British Army and having friends who were injured through service, Hounds for Heroes stood out as the perfect choice."
Taking on the Challenge
The London Marathon was David's first marathon, but it certainly won't be his last.
Since taking up running, he has completed a range of events including triathlons, local races and long-distance cycling challenges. Looking ahead, David hopes to continue testing himself with new endurance events while continuing to support charities that make a real difference.
Thank You
Everyone at Hounds for Heroes would like to thank David for his incredible commitment, generosity and determination.
Raising more than £1,000 through the TCS London Marathon is a fantastic achievement, and every pound raised will help us continue creating life-changing assistance dog partnerships for those who need them most.
