Since the Charity started placing dogs in 2013, we have created 27 working partnerships, 3 compassionate pet placements, 1 Reservist dog and one Demonstration dog.

All of our dogs have names that are linked either to the HM Armed Forces or the Emergency Services. Meet all of our current dogs in training below, and find out the meaning behind their names.

    Training stage: 7-14 months

    Alice is a Golden Retriever. Alice was named in memory of Alice Clark, a paramedic who died in the line of duty. Alice is very much a thinker and has become more confident over the last few months. Loves to have a cuddle.

    Training stage: 7-14 months

    Hercules is a Black Labrador. He's named after a type of military aircraft called a C-130 Hercules, which is primarily used for tactical transport. Hercules is just full of energy and loves nothing more than having a good hide and seek game in the park.

    Training stage: 7-14 months

    Tilly is a Golden Retriever, she is named after an Infantry Tank best known as the Matilda, which was a British infantry tank used in the Second World War. Tilly learns quickly and is very adaptable to different situations which is ideal for an assistance dog.

    Recce, short for 'Reconnaissance' is currently our youngest cadet. He's a Fox Red Labrador named after the Reconnaissance Platoon. He is just beginning his assistance dog journey, with the support and experience of his puppy parents and the Hounds for Heroes training team it won't be long before he is progressing through the ranks.

    Titan is a new recruit to the Charity. He is a Black Labrador and is keen to learn and wants to get it right, he is loyal and adaptable.

    Aurora, a Golden Retriever, is named after HMS Aurora of the Royal Navy. She's keen to please and adapts well to working with applicants with different needs. She is able to suss out a situation and work out what she needs to do. Loves her cuddly toys.

    Cleo, named after HMS Cleopatra of the Royal Navy is a very laid back Chocolate Labrador. She is always waiting patiently for her next job. Cleo has been matched with a partner and she will soon be starting her pre-placement training.

    Copper, litter mate to Cromwell is a Chocolate Labrador. Copper is named after the colloquial term for a Police Officer. She is a very gentle girl and is best known for her unrivalled recall.

    Cromwell, litter mate to Copper, is a spirited Black Labrador. Cromwell was named by The Cromwell Veterinary Group and his name also relates to Oliver Cromwell.

    Fleur is named in honour of the first female firefighter to die on duty in peacetime Britain, Fleur Lombard. Fleur, like her name's sake is dedicated to her work.

    Phoebe, named after HMS Phoebe of the Royal Navy is a very hard working Black Labrador. She loves nothing more than to be kept busy, and is always waiting for the next task.

    You may recognise Wellington from our #WellingtonWednesday updates on our social media channels. He is a very happy Golden Retriever and is always smiling. Wellington is named after the Duke of Wellington. Wellington is also a type of aircraft which was used by the Royal Air Force.
