AmberTraining stage: Puppy TrainingAmber is a Golden Retriever and is named after the Amber alert used by the Ambulance Service, where a response is required to a serious but not immediately life-threatening call. Amber is also the name of the home of the ambulance service research containing publications by staff of the NHS ambulance services across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. She has settled in really well with her Puppy Parent family and is growing in confidence every day.

BlazeTraining stage: Puppy TrainingBlaze is a Yellow Labrador and joined us in 2025. He is named in tribute to the UK Fire Service, recognising the bravery and dedication of those who protect us every day. Though on the smaller side, Blaze is a real pocket rocket full of energy, curiosity and smarts. Blaze is off to a brilliant start in his early training and is already showing great potential on his journey to becoming a life-changing assistance dog.

BobbyTraining stage: Puppy TrainingBobby is a Golden Retriever, he is named after Sir Robert Peel who, as Home Secretary, set up the Metropolitan Police Force in 1828. Bobby is loving life with his Puppy Parents and family and has been doing some fantastic loose lead walking training.

CranwellTraining stage: Puppy TrainingCranwell is a Black Labrador named after RAF Cranwell, (Royal Air Force Cranwell) which is a major Royal Air Force station located in Lincolnshire, England, he joined us in 2025. Cranwell has made a fantastic start with his Puppy Parents, he’s already showing a calm, confident nature and is settling in beautifully. We’re so excited to watch him grow, learn, and take his first steps toward supporting a member of the Armed Forces or Emergency Services.

FletcherTraining stage: Puppy TrainingFletcher is a Black Labrador who joined us at the end of 2025. He is named in honour of his generous sponsors, The Worshipful Company of Fletchers, whose historic craft was the making of arrows used in warfare. His English-origin name means “arrow-maker” and he’s already charming everyone he meets.
Fletcher is settling in brilliantly with his Puppy Parent family. He picks up new things quickly, loves learning, and is already establishing a solid routine, a wonderful start to his assistance dog journey.

MinnieTraining stage: Puppy TrainingMinnie is a Black Labrador, who joined us in late 2025 Her name holds special significance, she is named after the remarkable founder of The Forces Trust, also called Minnie, whose legacy was to leave her entire estate to support Armed Forces charities. Thanks to The Forces Trust’s generous sponsorship, Minnie has begun her journey towards becoming an assistance dog.
Minnie is settling in brilliantly with her Puppy Parent family and is already exploring the world through gentle socialisation and play the important first puppy steps in her future training.

NelsonTraining stage: Puppy TrainingWe are thrilled to announce another addition to our Hounds for Heroes family, meet Nelson, named after Admiral Lord Nelson, a British naval commander and national hero. Nelson is enjoying life with his Puppy Parent and gains in confidence everyday.

WarriorTraining stage: Puppy TrainingWarrior is a black Labrador. He is named after the IOW born foal, "Warrior", who went to war on the Western Front with General Jack Seely, a great friend of Winston Churchill.
Our first boy of Squadron 14, Warrior is a gentle character who takes it all in his stride. He is quick to learn and loves to play, his favourite toy is his duck from his puppy parents. We are excited to see how Warrior progresses with his puppy training.

AstraTraining stage: Advanced TrainingAstra is a yellow Labrador, her name is taken from the RAF motto which means "through adversity to the stars", it is also the name given to the campaign to build the next generation RAF. She is a gorgeous girl who is very curious about the world, her breeder nicknamed her 'Dora' as she was always exploring. Astra has been doing really well with her very speedy recall and enjoys going out to a cafe with her Puppy Parent and friends.

ChelseaTraining stage: Advanced TrainingChelsea is a Golden Retriever. Chelsea is named after the Chelsea Pensioners, the veterans of the British Army who are residents of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Chelsea enjoys coming to her weekly class to see her puppy friends and loves a fuss from the other puppy parents. She is doing really well with learning all of her basic skills. Chelsea has enjoys doing some training on the school run especially as the reward is going to pick up her human foster brother.

CometTraining stage: Advanced TrainingComet is a black Labrador, he is named after a British tank. Our littlest cadet so far but makes up for it in personality. Comet is enjoying going out to meet the Puppy Parent’s friends, he is doing brilliantly at his Puppy Class at our Portsmouth Puppy Hub. Comet really likes training and learning about the world around him, he is growing in confidence with each new experience.

TitanTraining stage: Advanced TrainingTitan is a Black Labrador and is keen to learn and wants to get it right, he is loyal and adaptable. Titan was named prior to joining Hounds for Heroes by one of our long standing Puppy parents who sadly passed away. After discussions between the charity and her husband it was agreed that Titan joining Hounds was a fitting next step. We look forward to the legacy of our puppy parent continuing for years to come and our heartfelt thanks go to her family for their long-standing support of the charity.

Matilda (Tilly)Training stage: ReservistTilly is a Golden Retriever, she is named after an Infantry Tank best known as the Matilda, which was a British infantry tank used in the Second World War. Tilly learns quickly and is very adaptable to different situations. Tilly has taken up the role of a Reservist dog to enable the charity showcase what our dogs can do to support their Partners. If you attend an information session it is likely you will see Tilly in action.
